FLASH BACK
In an island, a hurricane lamp that hung at the centre of a living room of a thatch building subdued the power of darkness in the room. Weary sound from the forest and wave from the sea generated a scary atmosphere.
"Loooom!!" a distant deep voice enhanced the fear at the ungodly hours of the night and attracted a young woman to the living room where she listened attentively again for the sound.
She wore a bogus night gown. The ray of light from the lamp reflected on her face as she hung it off from its resting position Thus, her complexion increased. Suddenly, a ten years old Erika stepped out too, rubbing her eyes half asleep.
"Mother, what's that sound?" she asked.
Monica, the mother, swiftly turned with the look of perturbation. "Erika, go inside!" she instructed.
Erika hesitated. For the second time, the scary sound came to their hearing like early morning bell of some Pentecostal churches. Erika's eyes met with her mother's then she said, "Mother, we're all alone in an island with papa Joe. I think he's the one making the sound. Mother, he needs our help."
"Erika, we both know that papa Joe is the last person that will need help. He's the god of this island. I've wondered what such a man is doing here all alone with..."
"Looom!!" the voice interrupted her. She glanced at the door with the lamp well stretched. It was impossible for her to leave the house without her daughter following her. She knew it, therefore both surged out of the room.
The wind generated by the wave flung their wears haphazardly as they were briskly walking into the forest like hunters.
"Walk closely beside me, Erika." Monica whispered holding her by the hand while the other hand got hold of the lamp. The motion was like walking through principalities and powers.
Nevertheless, they succeeded in going into another building of papa Joe after a few minutes walk to see the man lying on the floor, face up.
"Papa Joe.." Monica went down to him while Erika roamed her eyes around the room fearfully. "Whats wrong with you, Papa Joe?" the young woman asked.
The man couldn't be audible. So Erika watched how her mother placed her ears to his in order to hear him. Sadly, she stood up from the floor.
"Mother, what?" Erika asked her.
"Papa Joe is dead." She replied. Swiftly, she dropped the lamp, picked a stone and began to write on the floor as the child watched her in anticipation.
The young girl approached closer, "Mother, what are you writing?"
Monica said nothing but continued writing until the sentence became clear to her. Therefore, she read thus: GOOD LUCK, LAD.
Monica stood up saying. "The last words of the dead."
"What about it, mother?"
"It's powerful. It's awakens hidden knowledge. Before your soul leaves your body, it triggers the mouth to reveal the hidden things of the surrounding and it always comes in short sentences. Some just say a word before the soul finally leave their bodies."
Erika glanced at papa Joe's dead body on the floor and the sentence then back to her mother saying, "What's so hidden in 'GOOD LUCK, LAD'? Who was he even referring as lad?" She asked smartly.
"It sounds odd, right? That's why it's called the last words of the dead. The words need to be decoded just like puzzle to get the meaning?"
"Then decode it, mother."
Monica stared at the words for some seconds. She shook her head and picked up her lamp. "This is the hardest part of knowledge. It isn't gonna be easy." she sadly said.
Erika looked up at her. "Who taught you this, mother?" she asked.
"You won't know him, his name is Nwachukwu." she picked up her hurricane lamp. "Let's leave." She dragged her by the hand....

CONTINUITY
"Vivian, you went through my secret dairy?" The young president asked fiercely which brought about not only silence in the living room but also tension. Obviously, teacher Murphy's anger was really arising as his shoes were making an interval sound on the tiled floor. "Vivian!!" he shrieked and stopped. His voice alone startled the poor girl whose heart had accelerated already.
"Murphy?" Erika called in order to calm him down, yet, the glare at Vivian was like a roaring fire. Nobody uttered a word again. Of course they knew that Murphy would not sweep the matter under the carpet even Vivian knew about it, so she said, "I'm sorry, it was a mistake. I didn't mean to. It happened the day I ran out of your room."
All watched Murphy's reaction. The young boy just couldn't say anything again, so he turned to leave the building for the third time, yet, they never allowed him.
"Murphy." Dave had called him back. "Ella's issue is beyond the physical. According to Obi and Vivian, before she attempted suicide, they heard her talking to nobody inside her room."
"More like talking to another person." Obi clarified.
Murphy exhaled. "All I have to say is stay with Ella and don't make her feel inferior or thinks she's insane. Treat her like an egg."
"Like an egg?" Ada spoke out. "Why? Ella has done more harm than good. She had subjected us into several problems and now is a spiritual one at the look of things. So why must we treat her like an egg?"
"Ada, you stupidly stood on a landmine, ruined our plans at the white house when we surged to leave with the device. Daniella broke teacher Nwachukwu's rules for your sake, demanding that he set you free! When you fucked up at the shopping boutique, Teacher left you behind, but we stood, strategized to bring you back! When teacher refused to take you back, we all knelt down In front of the love garden for your sake!" he lowered his voice. "So tell me, Ada, who caused more problems?"
Silence once again took over. Ada instantly became ashamed and remorseful.
"Love!" Teacher Murphy continued looking at them all. "Love and stand for your brothers and sisters, even your friends without counting the wrongs, mistakes or even their weakness and sexuality. Whatever that is happening is a drum of death beating so loud that I don't know how to trace the source. So losing any of you will be the last thing I will allow. I will never forgive myself if it happens." he turned to leave once again but Erika interrupted.
"Teacher Murphy, my father died in your arms. What was his last words or sentence?" he had asked.
Obi shook his head. "Erika, your questions normally cause problems!" he lamented.
"No, wait!" Murphy instructed him coz he was ready for Erika too. So he stepped closer to her saying "What do you need the last words for?"
"I just want to know." Erika spread her hands.
"Must you know everything?" Judith backfired, while Dave silently tapped her to calm down.
"Teacher Nwachukwu was my father for crying out loud. I have the right to know."
Judith stepped out to her neglecting Dave's resistance. "Young girl, for your information, your father was not only our father too but also our mother. So who has a better right?" she challenged.
"Is okay, Judith" Murphy tapped her shoulder, looking at Erika. "We all are equal but if you must know his last words, he said and I quote: "Now you have the answer to everything that will guide you on the presidential seat. I taught you criminal love but show the citizens practical love. Good luck, lad."
"Good luck, lad?" Erika surprisingly repeated.
"Yes, what are you not telling me?"
She exhaled. "Nothing. Thank you for your response, teacher Murphy" she replied.
Finally, Murphy left.

Darkness covered the city of Kali and the entire country. Murphy once again stood by the window of his room, intelligently trying to ascertain everything that happened during the day. At that point, he wished Vivian was beside him to decode everything easily.
"Last words of teacher Nwachukwu." he began to think. "Why did Erika ask that question? Good luck, lad.. She repeated. What is she not telling me?" he walked out from the window to his bed still thinking. "..teacher told me to awaken my knowledge. To awaken my knowledge wasn't it to decode his statements which I did? If not that, is it his last words before he died? Huh.. is it what I should decode. What could be hidden in his last words?" he was getting close to discover what Erika is trying to know too. That makes him a clever teacher.
"I feel the worst is about to happen." Murphy concluded...

FLASH BACK
That mid-night, Papa Joe's death on the island was like the passing-away of a shadow through a quiet uncompleted building. It did not only calm the wind in the forest but also reduced the flow of wave from the sea.
Monica, along side with her daughter, Erika, stood by the seashore. The hurricane lamp in her hands never stopped illuminating at a close range.
Erika dragged the mother's gown. "Mother, what are we doing at the shore? We should be inside the house. I'm scared." she said.
Monica looked at her. "No, Erika, we need to bury Papa Joe." she replied, briskly moving away from the place and followed by her shadow created by the hurricane lamp. She was a brave woman with diverse knowledge of her land and the one she got from Nwachukwu within the small range of time she spent with him.
Monica followed suite. "Mother, let's wait for Idika to come from the main city by day-break. He will help us bury him!"
The mother snubbed her, walked behind their thatch house where she picked a shovel to proceed forward but Erika held her back by the gown again. Monica raised the lamp to her face as she stared at her through it saying, "Erika, listen to the voice of your elders; Idika, is not coming any time soon and Papa Joe must be buried as soon as possible."
"We met him on this island, Mother. Why must you bury a man you do not know anything about him, not even his family?"
"But my heart tells me that I'm doing the right thing."
"Decode the last words of the dead before burying the dead. It could be a chance to save the man"
"A man is no more a man when he dies. The dead can not be saved again."
They stared after the argument. Monica averted not only her eyes from her daughter but also the lamp from her face, surging forward and followed by Erika.
On a sandy ground, she dug tirelessly like a machine while the daughter watched from aside where she sat down like a puppy. The young girl was not only analysing her mother's charisma but also observing her effort and emotions.
Before she finished the six fit grave, day had broken already. She jumped out from the grave half naked and breathing hastily only to see her daughter glaring at her suspiciously.
"What, Erika?" she asked her.
The girl remained quiet, but the mother never cared. "Stay here while I go carry the body out" she instructed. Before she could walk a length of the grave, Erika's voice stopped her.
"The effort and zeal you put on digging the grave is not equal to your emotions. Hence, your heart isn't telling you that you're doing the right thing, rather you're the one telling your heart that." Erika had said.
Speechlessly, Monica became static like a tree. She couldn't acertain the words of a ten years old child. Therefore, she marvelled.
"Mother.." Erika continued. "Tell me the truth on why you're so anxious to bury papa Joe."
"Because he's dead and a dead man needs to be buried." she replied.
"Let the dead bury their own dead."
Monica couldn't bear her daughter's argumentative mannarism so she turned and walked out from her. The rate of her movement was as a result of the song of death playing on her head which released tears from her eyes as she hurried out of sight into the forest.
She barged into the very house of papa Joe to carry the dead body, to her greatest amazement, the body was nowhere to be found again.
"Erika!" She exclaimed, searching the whole house. "Erika!!" she shouted again before the poor girl arrived unscathed.
"Mother.."
"Where is the dead body?" she interrupted her suspeciouly.
Erika glanced at the floor to see nothing but the written words her mother claimed was the last words of the dead. But now, papa Joe is no more dead but missing. How can that be explained? Nevertheless, she looked up at her mother saying, "I don't know mother. The last time I checked, a lifeless body doesn't move except something moves it."
"Nothing moved it." Monica said.
"How do you know nothing moved it?" Erika stared at her suspiciously again.
Monica remained quiet.
"Now I see why you wanted to bury him as soon as possible under six fit precisely." Erika paused while the mother assimilated and forecast where she was heading to. "You knew that he would disappear that's why you wanted him buried as son as possible, isn't it?" she smartly figured it out.
The small girl caught her mother red-handed coz she couldn't deny it again.
"Yes, is true" Monica accepted.
"But why, mother? That means you know papa Joe more than I thought."
"Yes, he is an owl, a harbinger of death." she replied to the daughter's amazement.......

CONTINUITY.
Drum of death silently beat in the city of Kali. As the number one citizen, president Murphy is to protect others from such omen regarding how he is valued by everyone due to his cleverness. Therefore, if this drum of death escalates loudly, he will be devalued, hence peached and disappointed. That was the last thing Murphy wanted, so decoding every statements and reasoning smartly about the issue at hand became his daydream and priority. Though he knew that Erika has an idea of what was going on, but wanted her to come up with it on her own rather than asking her.
Nevertheless, the next morning breakfast was served on the dinning table of the residential sanctum of Daniella who just regained herself after attempting suicide the previous day.
She stepped out from her room on bumshort and a spaghetti crop-top which struggled to carry the wait of her breast. She surprisingly saw others seated at the dining table and smiling at her. Her eyes caught with Cynthia before Erika.
"Hey, Ella" Judith came out from the kitching with a juice. "Come over to the table, dear." she told her as she flung her butt to the table too, dropped the juice and sat beside her love, Dave. Ada sat with Obi while Vivian and Cynthia juxtaposed. Only Erika sat alone at the end of the table, facing Murphy who also occupied the other end like leaders of the family.
"Ella, come over" Murphy added before the poor girl came, sitting alone with a seat separating her and the next person.
"Let's eat this food before it runs away" Obi hilariously broke the silence.
"I'll catch it. I'm a good runner." Judith added then all giggled and started eating after individual prayers.
Murphy glanced at Ella saying with a hand placed on her shoulder since she seated close to him, "I want you to understand that we all love you, Ella and...."
"Is okay, Murphy" she interrupted him. "I sincerely didn't know what I was doing yesterday" she continued while everybody stopped eating and listened to her. "I was depressed. I felt like the world has rejected me. I never planned to attempt to take my life until I heard a strange voice behind me.." she swallowed hard. All saw tears rolling from her eyes.
"What did the voice say?" Murphy asked her.
"That there's no place for me in this world." she replied.
Quietness was the next thing observed in the building as they communicated with their eyes, trying to figure out the meaning of Ella's encounter.
Erika cleared her throat then all looked her. "Was it a male or female voice?" she asked.
"Male"
Murphy and Erika glanced at each other after the response as if they were thinking about the same thing.
"This is a bad sign. Something spiritual is going on." Vivian spoke up.
"We need to pray to stop it." Cynthia suggested.
"No," Dave objected. "You fight spirit with spirit."
"But prayer is spiritual." she looked at Ada for support, but the girl was dumb just like others thereby bringing back the lost quietness.
However, Erika and Murphy hadn't averted their eyes from each other. Others observed it but Obi couldn't bear it. So he said, "Both of you are acting weird. We need to do something before it's to late."
"Yes, Obi, before we start losing citizens for the same cause." Erika finally said then scooped a spoonful rice.
Murphy looked at them all then said cleverly, "Yes, spiritual battle is fought spiritually. Prayer is spiritual as well as knowledge and wisdom which come from God."
"Why did you classify knowledge and wisdom as spiritual things?" Dave asked him.
"Because God is a spirit; and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. An educationist said that knowledge is power. With knowledge and wisdom you can conquer all things"
Silence continued for some seconds.
"As we decode the solution on how to prevent the silent hovering death omen, I'll like to wed my damsel, Uche Vivian in a week time."
"Wooow!!" They all shouted while Vivian blushed. One could see a trace of smile on Ella's face. Murphy held her again with a confidential expression.

A WEEK LATER
The president of the country, teacher Murphy, busted Kali city with an extravagant wedding. All prominent individuals and common men were invited. With joyful hearts both pledge on the alter of God with the phrase, 'I do'.
Of course the wedding night must be a memorable one in the life of the couple and entire city at large.
Daniella sneaked out that night on a private car, travelling out of the city coz she knew if she had told anyone, they wouldn't allow her leave. As she drove with her headlight on, so as Murphy and Vivian wanted to explore their sexual lives.
They could be seen kissing each other from the door of the room to the bed half naked. Murphy slammed her down on the bed when the kiss became intensively pleasurable. Her breast bounced with the movement of the bed. Only a white pant remained on her waist As she smiled, waiting for Murphy to romantically lay on her, the boy placed his hand on her throat as if strangling her to death. Painfully he spanked her continuously with the other hand.
"Murp.. Murphy. .. what.. are... you doing?" Vivian began to lose her breath, struggling with his hand.
Notwithstanding, Murphy kissed her, violently tore the pant and imprisoned her hands as he kept slapping her and devouring her lips and breast with his mouth.
One could see Vivian flinging her legs to free herself. "Murphy, you're hurting me!" she lamented.
Yet the boy didn't listen. Already, his dick has erected. Therefore, he forcefully spread her legs and inserted it, yet strangling and spanking her.
"Aaaahh!" Vivian cried. "Murphy you're hurting me!"
The boy continued brutally.
"Murphy, let go of me! You're raping me. What has come over you!!" she kept crying...
:
:
On the other hand, Ella drove through a lonely road with bushes at both sides. One of her tyres pulled out, circularly running into the bush. So she loss control and fell down a cliff. As the car was rolling down, she had a dark transfiguration where she saw herself in the midst of owls. The background of the place shone like a dim light.
"Where am I?" she asked....
:
:
At that point, every light on the city of Kali went off including the white house where Murphy had finished his sexual act.
He put on a torchlight which he placed on a table to see Vivian folding herself at a corner naked with tears dropping from her eyes. Murphy humbly met her but she scarily adjusted away from him.
"I'm sorry, Vivian." he began. "I noticed that's the only way I can get the sexual pleasure I want."
Vivian looked up at him in tears. "By flitting pains on me?"
Murphy became quiet.
"Oh my God, Murphy!" she shrieked unbelievably.
Just then, electrical energy came back not only in the house but also the entire city. Murphy's phone rang then he picked it up immediately.
"Hello, Erika, not a good time." he said on the phone.
"I'm sorry teacher but you need to come to the love garden now" Erika's voice sounded.
"Now? Why what's.." the line went off.
Quickly, Murphy dressed up and barged out of the room in a hurry, leaving Vivian alone. The poor innocent girl stood up and called Judith on the phone, sniffing in tears to her hearing.
"Vivian, don't tell me I'm hearing sniff of tears instead of joy" she said on the phone.
"Judith, I'm in a very big trouble. I don't want to call my parents because of this." Vivian sniffed again.
"Whats the problem?"
"Murphy is a sadomasochist."
"Oh my God!!" Judith exclaimed unbelievably.......

FLASH BACK
Darkness swept across the surface of the earth. It could be observed at a vicinity with only a building surrounded by a forest. Ghost mood was the nuture of the environment due to the capicity of silence stretched to every corner regardless of some notorious insects that clamoured for blood. Shadows of trees qued up on the ground as a result of moonlight, illuminating at a low tensity. It could be seen through an aluminium window of the building which served as a reflector of the light rays.
Suddenly, the door of the building cracked open, in the nature of Adam, teacher Nwachukwu walked out through it with two hands behind him. A step taken by him dangles his dick like a swinging pendulum bob performing a simple harmonic motion. By the look of his dick, one can deduce that he just finished having sex with a woman.
Nevertheless, he stood at the epicentre of the environment, staring at the half moon like a meteorologist. What he saw spiritually cannot be seen by any canal man. It was so sadden that he had to shake his head pitifully. Just then, Monica came through his back with a tighed wrapper. She touched him softly with a low voice.
"My lord," she called him like Serah to Abram. "You came out here naked and lost in thought. What troubles you, my lord?"
"I see the future of the kids I'm about to train. It's marvellous but at a time becomes deadly." he replied, still staring at the moon.
"You mean the orphans?"
"Yes." he looked down at Monica. "One of them, the most clever, must be on the presidential seat to defeat the death saga that will befall the city."
Monica adjusted her wrapper. "What is this death you talk about?"
"An owl in form of a man. I don't know who this man is or the year he will strike but i must train these kids especially the one that will sit upon the presidential seat ways to defeat him coz only the clever fights such a deadly battle"
Monica did not only enter into her shell, she also close the gate of her mouth to reason the words of her lord. "Is there nothing that can be done to prevent this outrage of death?" she asked.
"He must be buried in a hurry after death, six fit under the ground."
"How do you know this man-owl and where is he?"
Nwachukwu looked up in the sky again, sadly shook his head. "That, I do not know, Monica, but it's certain to me like a prophecy that this must come to pass." he replied.
"I'll always believe in you my lord. Your knowledge is from heaven above" She held her arms romantically......

CONTINUITY
He stepped out of the white house on a casual dress; three quater jean trouser and a white polo, looking more like a teenager he was. Huge men in black clustered to protect him as the only successful and clever president the country has ever had, tutored by late teacher Nwachukwu. His name was teacher Murphy as he prefered to be addressed too.
"Start the chopper!" he ordered, heading towards the helicopter with his guards behind him. In their hands were rifles which they would use to send any suspicious being to an early grave.
"I'm only going with the pilot. Stay and protect my wife!" he instructed them all.
The blades of the chopper finally set in motion after the ignition of the engine. Teacher Murphy jumped in then directed his eyes to the window of his room as the chopper took off. He saw Vivian at the window making a call. His eyes caught with hers as both remained speechless.
"I'm sorry, Vivian. This should be your memorable wedding night but I've ruined it." Murphy said within himself until the chopper went out of sight. Vivian continued the call with Judith.
As usual, the chopper landed at the basketball court and teacher Murphy hurried inside the building but didn't see neither Erika nor the ghost of teacher Nwachukwu.
"Erika!" he exclaimed her name, but in return was the echo of his own voice. "Eri..." he wanted to call again but the girl's presence at the staircase interrupted him.
Erika stood there like a monitoring spirit without uttering a word.
""Erika, why did you call me here by this time of the night?" Murphy pointed at his wristwatch.
"Is time to awaken our knowledge." she replied then made a U-turn back inside, from where she came out. Murphy followed her to the classroom where she saw a sentence boldly written on the board: GOOD LUCK, LAD.
He glanced at her. "What's this?" he asked.
"Last words of the dead" Erika replied by his side. Both faced the board like examiners.
Murphy glanced at her for the second time. "Last words of the dead." he soliloquized.
"I believe in these words lies the answers we seek about the drum of death beating around us." Erika stepped forward as she continued. "The last words of the dead awaken hidden knowledge. Before the soul leaves the body, it triggers the mouth to reveal hidden things of the surrounding."
"Who taught you this?" Murphy widened his eyes.
"My mother, Monica. She said Nwachukwu taught her too. Someone called papa Joe died on the island but before my mother finished digging her grave, his body was nowhere to be found again."
Murphy widened his eyes surprisingly the more.
"What baffles me now is that his last words is the same with my father's, Nwachukwu." Erika clarified.
"This is a sign that both had the same thing in mind before dying." Murphy began to walk towards the board, staring at the sentence. "What could be hidden in a simple wish?" he wondered touching each word with his fingers, trying to decode the hidden message it gives. It was difficult, so he quit and turned.
"I don't think this last words of the dead makes any sense. I mean the sentence is so innocent and transparent that you'd doubt if it has any hidden message in it.
"I disagree. Yesterday, my father told you to awaken your knowledge. He wasn't referring to any other thing but this last statement."
"If there was any other thing teacher wanted me to know, he would have told me or taught me."
Erika remained quiet as both stared at each other. At this point, Murphy could make a meaning from her stationary stare coz it was becoming more like a romantic expression.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Both asked at the same time to find themselves feeling embarrassed.
Just then, Murphy phone rang.
Erika exhaled, taking a step away from him with her face buried shamefully on the floor, listening to Murphy's phone conversation.
"What a hell is wrong with you people!!?" Murphy shouted on the phone.
Swiftly, Erika raised her head up to him, wondering the cause of the ranting. She, once again stared at him until he hung up the call without speaking to the caller again.
"Fuck!!" he smashed the phone on the floor aggressively.
"Teacher, who called?" Erika demanded.
Murphy didn't reply her, rather hurried out of the classroom to the bedroom of late teacher Nwachukwu where he grabbed a television remote.
"Murphy, talk to me. What's going on!" Erika was not only inquisitive but curious too. Yet, Murphy said nothing.
The television began to broadcast, so Erika was forced to avert her eyes from the young president to the screen where they watched the death of people who died in the city that night by suicide. A female journalist said this with a microphone: "Tonight has been declared a black night due to the death of ten citizens who strangely committed suicide for no cause. One fell down from a storey building, another..."
"My God!" Erika exclaimed. "Finally, what we're trying to figure out has started."
Murphy put off the television and flung the remote on the bed then walked to the bar. Once again, as he poured a wine inside a glass cup, its sound attracted Erika, hence he was developing a covetous awareness. He filled the cup to the brim, dropped the bottle of wine and sipped a quantity. Once again, he caught Erika staring at him.
"Dave called" He began. "He said that Ella's car has been discovered at the base of a cliff due to a drastic accident but she was nowhere to found." He sipped another quantity.
Erika speechlessly widened her mouth.
"This is a girl we saved from suicide. A few minutes after her accident, my citizens begin to die by the same suicide. This is omen of death." Murphy began to walk around.
"We need to end this immediately and search for Ella." Erika suggested, but Murphy did as if he didn't hear her with his back on her.
"We saw an owl..." he began to think loud with his face buried on the floor. "Teacher said I should awaken my knowledge... last words of the dead.. papa Joe... good luck, lad" he swiftly looked up at Erika. "Did you just say that your mother told you that Nwachukwu taught her about the last words of the dead?"
"Yes?"
"May I see the letter he wrote to your father again? Do you have it?" he requested.
"Yes." She handed him the letter.
Hastily, Murphy opened the paper then read thus: "It wasn't my intensions to leave without a trace. You have to understand that It was for your own good. I love you like the good lucky heart of two mammals. The confidence i have when I'm always in your arms is like an octopus' heart in its habitat but found him at the seashore. I miss you so much..."
"Oh my God!" Murphy exclaimed. "The letter is coded! It has a different message!"
Erika approached closer. "What did it say?"
He glanced at her thoughtful. "I think teacher and your mother had the knowledge of this death omen. So she sent a coded message to him that he has found the cause of the death which is..."
"Papa Joe" Erika completed.
"Yes, but.." he paused and glanced at the paper. "There are more hidden message." he briskly left the room back to the classroom where she read the last words of the dead loud again saying, "Good luck, lad."
They remained quiet. Murphy used that moment to think as he looked at the letter.
"Does the words mean something to you now?" Erika broke the silence.
Murphy smiled. "Very clear now." he began by throwing away the paper and picking up a marker. "Your mother decoded the meaning of the last words and sent it to Nwachukwu."
"What does it mean?"
"They are numbers?"
"Numbers?" Erika couldn't believe it.
"Yes," Murphy wrote three numbers under the three words on the board respectively: 4 4 3. "GOOD represent the number 4 as well as LUCKY. Then LAD represent 3." he explained.
Erika moved closer to the board. "Is it because there are four alphabets in GOOD and LUCKY, then LAD has three alphabets?" she asked.
"No, it's because according to the letter, GOOD LUCKY hearts of two mammals has four (4) chambers each. Then an octopus has three (3) chambers." he paused with a smile, looking at how Erika speechlessly stared once again. Obviously, she didn't believe the degree of cleverness teacher Murphy had.
Notwithstanding, Murphy circled the three numbers on the board and concluded saying. "I guess these numbers tells the location of Papa Joe where he must be stopped. Your mother was indirectly telling teacher this because they must had discussed about it. Also, being the last words of teacher before he died in my arms, he wanted to reveal this to me in order to cleverly stop him. 4 4 3 is in a jungle according to the map of Kali "
Erika was moved emotionally so she hugged Murphy tightly. "You're so smart!" she said on his shoulder.
Murphy patted her back joyfully too.
"Vivian is so lucky to have you." she added.
Her last statement reminded Murphy his sexual problem. Therefore he became sad.....

They are more to be critically revealed about the sudden death hovering the city and the country at large. Though teacher Murphy may have cleverly decoded the location of the solution, but what about the source and the reason for the death? If discovered too, what about the solution requirements or processes? These are way too much for the kids especially teacher Murphy to analyse but he must save his people as prophesied and foreseen by late teacher Nwachukwu.
Nevertheless, the young president, at almost midnight, at the love garden, sadly patted Erika's back as she never let go of him from the hug. The girl had fully forgotten that teacher Murphy whose shoulders she rested on had married. As a matter of fact, that suppose to be his wedding night. Before she realized that, Murphy gradually began to push her away.
"Oh.. I'm sorry." she totally stepped away from him by herself with her eyes clutched with his. "I was carried away by your intelligence."
she said.
"Is okay, Erika. We need to leave here now." Murphy bypassed her with that sad expression. Getting to the door, Erika called on him saying, "Why the long face, Murphy?"
The boy stopped, staring at the floor without looking back or turning back to her. He thoughtfully closed his eyes for a reason best known to him
"I only appreciated how Vivian is lucky to have you." Erika added.
Yet, teacher Murphy never generated a kinetic energy or made a sound energy. It got down on Erika that her president was motionless so she wondered why, walking closer to him, step by step. Unexpectedly, Murphy opened his eyes and turned, thus, stopping Erika on the way. Both stared once again as Murphy spoke up.
"A Man's greatest battles are the ones he fights within himself. Everyone has this greatest battle, hence no one is flawless regardless of how intelligent, smart and beautiful they are."
Erika remained quiet. Murphy's statements were becoming a silence syrup to her.
"Erika," he continued. "Talking without thinking is like shooting without aiming. The way a bitter-colar sounds is not how it tastes."
"I don't know what you're talking about, Murphy" Erika finally confessed.
"I'm not perfect. Everyone has some flaws.." he swallowed hard. "Vivian may not be lucky to have me. Surely, i am the one lucky to have her." he turned to clutch the door-knob but turned for the second time saying, "And it's 'teacher Murphy' not just 'Murphy'. Always accord me with that respect."
"Now, you sound provocative and insultive." the girl unabashedly challenged.
"Truth must be told at all times regardless to whom it may concern, and this truth is not only bitter, it is also interpreted as an insult by a proud soul."
They became silent for a moment. Murphy finally clutched the doorknob and walked away. Erika didn't know whether to get upset or happy or even to apologize to him. The boy's statements put her in the state of woozy and multimood.

Catastrophically, the city lamented over the death of their own people and those yet to die. Murphy and Erika stepped down from the chopper at one of the death scenes. They witnessed the crying voices of affected family and the corpes of a young lady lying on the floor, clustered by people. She sustained a broken head, fracture and dislocation as a result of jumping from a building. One could see blood flowing through a pathway like the current of a river. The presence of teacher Murphy did not only give people hope but also attracted guards who were sent to his location immediately for protection.
Murphy bent down beside the corpse to examine the body, while others looked at him like the messiah. Looking at the beautiful lady, tears rolled from his eyes to the ground.
"What were her last words?" he asked, looking up.
"She didn't say anything. She woke up and jumped through the window." The mother of the lady replied.
Murphy sadly lowered his head once again.
Suddenly, he saw Erika walking out from them to a distance like one being controlled.
"Erika, what?" he stood up.
The girl didn't turn.
"Erika?" he began walking to her as others watched in anticipation. Just before he got to her, they heard a gunshot behind them which scared people away.
Turning around, one of the guards was already lying dead by shooting himself. At the same time, a man could be seen running towards the main road where a trailer was speedily running too. To everybody's amazement, the man purposely jumped on the trailer and it crushed him. Blood splashed.
"Oh God!" Erika exclaimed seeing people, running away.
They also heard a pandemonium at several location which signifies a massive act of suicide.
"What's going on?!" Murphy shoulted.
"It's happening again." Erika replied.
Instantly, body guards clustered them. "We need to evacuate you now, teachers." one of them said.
Teacher Murphy and Erika were guarded into a vehicle, like said, were being evacuated immediately.
Through the tinted glass of the car, they saw dead people on the floor and people lamenting over the suicidal death. It was a night to be remembered.
Murphy occasionally glanced at Erika until she caught him.
"I know the look. Just spit it out." she told him.
Murphy didn't say anything.
"I'm just helping you to fight your battle, teacher. If you don't need me anymore, you only have to tell me to leave." she added.
"Is not as if I'm suspecting you, Erika." Murphy began. "Before the owl hoot and perched before us at the love garden, you sense it prior to time. And back at the death scene, before the escalation of another suicide, you felt it too. I hope it won't be offensive if i say that you're directly or indirectly connected to what's happening."
Erika averted her eyes from him to the glass of the car, generating silence in the car. "I don't know what to say.. I'm just experiencing what you said." she turned to see Murphy still staring at her suspeciouly. "I think I have the instinct to detect when something bad wants to happen." she concluded.
Murphy remained quiet, he looked through his own glass to see a six year old girl walking into a nearby bush.
"Stop the car!" he instructed loudly.
The car generated a potential energy by the driver applying the brake. Hastily, Murphy jumped out from the car, running after the girl.
Already, the child had stopped without looking lack. She wore a gown, on her feet were no shoes but had a long natural hair. Behind her was Murphy, and after Murphy was Erika before a few gaurds. Silence stretched across the environment. Only a distant clamouring of people as a result of the suicidal death could be heard from there.
"Little girl, what are you doing here all alone?" Murphy broke the silence.
"She called me." the girl replied.
Murphy glanced back at Erika who whispered to him saying, "This is creepy. We have to go."
Murphy ignored her, listening to the child who continued to say, "Your doom is near. Your reign as the clever one is over. You've carved your own coffin and you'll lie on it."
Murphy swallowed hard. "What are you saying little girl?" he asked.
"I am not the one saying. She is the one."
"What is her name?"
The girl became mute for a while. Gradually she turned thereby showing her innocent face to them. "She said her name is Erika." she replied.
Murphy looked at Erika who couldn't say anything. It was as if the allegation blocked her vocal cavity.
"Murphy, she's bluffing. She must be talking about Papa Joe." she said.
"The last time I recall the rules of English language, Papa Joe should be a 'he' not a 'she'" Murphy analysed.
Just then, a mother cried from a distance, shouting the name of the six year old child. "Emily!!" Guards blocked her, preventing her from going to her daughter.
"Mummy!!" the girl ran to her mother instead, leaving the two teenagers in the state of woozy and multimood....
